Sixteen Teams from Six Regions to Meet in The Kuala Lumpur Major

This Kuala Lumpur Major is the very first Dota 2 Major of the 2018-2019 session which will take place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on the November 9th. There are sixteen qualified teams which will battle against each other in order to take the largest piece of the amazing $1,000,000 prize pool. In addition to having this opportunity to grab their piece of the prize pool, there are also 15.000 DPC points for grabs as well for the upcoming The International 2019.

This is the very first Major of the current seasons and sixth overall Dota 2 Major featuring the sixteen best teams all over the world. Thanks to collaborations with ImbaTV and Egg Network, the main events will take place at the amazing Axiata Arena starting from November 16th to November 18th. The organizer of the competition as expected is PGL. When it comes to main sponsors of the competition, these include Intel, Acer Predator, KFC Delivery, U Mobile and HyperX.

Sixteen Teams to Battle for The Title

When it comes to the format of the competition, it stays the same as seen in previous Majors. Fifteen teams qualified through their regional qualifiers. This means that there are three teams for each region including North America, China, Europe and there are two teams each from South America, Southeast Asia, and CIS. There is also another team which qualified directly as the Dream League Season 10 champion.

Then, there is the competition’s group stage which will take place from November 9th to November 10th. There are four groups consisted of four teams. This competition stage features double-elimination or GSL brackets and those top-performing teams from each group directly advance to the next stage of the competition or to the upper brackets. This leaves those two bottom teams from each group which will advance to the competition’s lower bracket.

The next stage is the Kuala Lumpur Major playoffs which will take place starting from November 11th to November 18th. It should be noted that only those final three days of the competition will be held in front of fans of a live crowd. This stage also features double-elimination format with all games except lower bracket round one and Grand Finals are Bo3 while Grand Finals match is Bo5 and round one of lower bracket matches are Bo1

The New Season Is Underway

The new 2018-2019 season of the biggest Dota 2 pro competition is underway starting in several days. Moreover, the very first DPC points were awarded while the last standing team in Stockholm, Tiger have earned their spot in the competition. Other teams which will show off their skills in this season’s Dota Pro Circuit are Secret, Virtus.Pro, PSG-LGD, EG, Alliance, Aster, paiN, TnC, Fnatic, VG, FRz, FWD, paiN X, NiP, J.Storm alongside Tigers.

When it comes to the competition’s prize pool, there is $1,000,000 USD for grabs as well as 15.000 DPC points. The winning team will get $350,000, the second-placed will get $170,000 and the third-placed will get $100,000. Fans will be able to enjoy the competition’s matches on their Dota 2 Client either on PGL’s Twitch stream of or SteamTV starting from November 9th to November 18th.
