Team Secret had a relatively disappointing The International 7. They finished only in the 9th/12th place but their expectations were really big. Just like every year so far, the period after The International has been a very popular time period for making changes in the team’s roster. Especially because it was not possible to make any changes in the teams one month before The International 7.
The International 7 finished on Saturday with Team Liquid claiming the title for the first time. And on Monday, the post-International 7 shuffle has officially started. The first team to reveal changes in their team was Team Secret who announced that two players had left the squad.
KheZu and MP Leave
Team Secret did not have a lot of success at this year’s edition of the International. Their problems started early in the group stage when they were unable to reach the places that would put them in the winner brackets part of the draw. Instead, they had to start the playoffs in the lower brackets and because of that, they had a very big disadvantage.
Team Secret was eliminated in the second round of the playoffs in the lower bracket by Team Liquid. Puppey and the rest of Team Secret had a very good chance for eliminating Team Liquid in that match but they simply disappeared in game three of the match which enabled Team Liquid to win that game and the match in general.
As a result of that performance, Team Secret has announced that Maurice ‘KheZu’ Gutmann and Noa ‘MP’ Pyo have left the team. MP started playing with Team Secret during the post TI6 shuffle when he joined the team together with Lee ‘ForeV’ Sang-don. When it comes to KheZu, he joined the squad when ForeV was released from the team after huge disappointment when they had failed to qualify for The Boston Major.
Turbulent Times for Team Secret
Even since KheZu and MP joined the team, Team Secret had a very turbulent time. At one tournament they would have a very bad time, displaying games that just do not go together with the fact that they are playing at a very strong tournament while on some other tournaments they would have a very good time winning some of the top places.
Before this year’s The International 7, Team Secret was playing at the Summit 7 and they had a very good tournament as they finished in the second place and winning $100,000. Before that, Team Secret won the European qualifiers for The International 7 and because of that, Team Secret was one of the main contenders for the title at the biggest Dota 2 tournament ever. Because of that, the disappointment with the result at the International 7 was even worse.
So far, Team Secret has not announced which players will be replacing KheZu and MP. It is expected that they will not be making that announcement soon because the season is practically over and there is enough time for Team Secret to prepare in the right way for the next Dota 2 season.
