Overwatch Adds a New Hero, Ashe the Gunslinger
|
Blizzard announced the identity of its newest hero for Overwatch at Blizzcon on Friday. The new hero is named Ashe and is a Damage fighter.
An American criminal gang leader, Ashe was introduced in a short at Blizzcon. She appears to have been involved with fellow Overwatch hero McCree at some point.
Ashe has an American Southwest motif to her. She also has an omnic named BOB who goes around with her. Blizzard states that BOB was originally the butler that worked for her parents, but now he is capable of fighting alongside Ashe when her ultimate is ready.
Blizzard has not announced her release date or any specifics on the technical aspects of her abilities. However, she will make for a noteworthy addition to the extended list of heroes that may be used in esports competitions. This also marks the first new Damage character to have been announced in the game in a way.
Ashe is the 29th overall hero to be introduced in Overwatch. She is also the sixteenth hero to be listed in the Damage category. Her difficulty rating is listed at two stars out of three.
Main Weapon
The weapon that Ashe will use is the Viper, a semi-automatic rifle. The primary fire produces quick shots, while the secondary fire uses a sight that produces a more accurate and powerful shot. The feature may be similar to rifles that Widowmaker and Ana both use, what with all three allowing for people to produce more accurate shots with enough care.
Special Functions
Ashe can throw dynamite at her enemies to damage them and push them back. But whereas Junkrat’s mines can be triggered on command, Ashe’s dynamite will detonate after a specific time period. She can also shoot at the dynamite to set it off right away. The enemies who are damaged by her dynamite will also receive added burn damage for a few seconds.
The Coach Gun function is another distinct feature. Similar to a power that Brigitte uses, Ashe can use her gun to blast people away from her. This causes the enemies to be knocked back while dealing a slight bit of damage. Ashe will also propel back by a slight bit when she uses this power. Players may be advised to avoid doing this on spots where she might fall off of the map.
What Is Her Ultimate?
The ultimate power of Ashe is to command BOB, her omnic sidekick, to help her out. BOB will knock enemies up in the way and then use arm cannons to fire at those opponents.
More information on Ashe will be released in the future with details on her specific qualities. These points are expected to be pored over by esports teams, especially considering how Ashe could be a good compliment to other gunslinger-type Damage characters in the game. The design of Ashe makes her an appealing hero to use thanks to how she offers many control features and damage points that make her an outstanding figure for people to look forward to using for their Overwatch desires.
