Leaked Call of Duty 2017 Photos Suggest a WWII Era

A reliable source has leaked a few images from Sledgehammer Games with regards to what the 2017 Call of Duty game will be. The artwork suggests that it will take place during World War II. The game also appears to have a preliminary title called Call of Duty WWII although it is not certain if this will be the final title.

This was released by a person on YouTube called “TheFamilyVideoGamers.” This information was also provided to many outside media groups from other reliable sources in addition to the YouTube channel.

The news comes as a big development to fans of the game in the esports community. This especially comes as there are concerns over how popular future CoD esports events might be. The esports scene could be revitalized by this major development in the game although it is unclear as to what such changes might entail as time goes along.

What the Photos Suggest

Photos of the game suggest a focus on ground combat. This includes people with machine guns working in groups. This could create a more team-based approach to esports competitions with close quarters in mind.

The images also have a few beach settings to them. This gives off the impression that the game would take place in the European theater of combat. There was nothing suggesting that the Pacific theater would be involved although there is a potential it could happen.

Various ships can also be seen in some photos although they are not as prominent as the individual soldiers. This places more of a focus on how vehicles may not be as significant as they had been in the past. Still, it suggests that there will be a greater focus on infantry combat throughout the game. It’s not certain as to what national armies are involved although it’s clear the Americans will play a big role.

The design has a rugged and brown-toned look for the most part. While this isn’t always reflective of what to expect in a game, it does at least give the impression that the new Call of Duty game is going to have a gritty and rough look to it. This should make for an entertaining game when all is considered.

A Change In Style

This change for Call of Duty comes as fans are clamoring for a return to the ground-based nature of combat that Call of Duty had been famous for. There were also stories that people were tired of some of the vehicle-based combat and futuristic settings that had been taking place over the last few years.

Also, there had been stories suggesting that the game would take place during the Vietnam War. This came from earlier photos that had some jungle-themed images. There had been rumors that Activision and Sledgehammer were looking to repurpose another game that was to take place during that war.

This evolution in the Call of Duty series is a big point for people to watch for. This could influence the esports community in terms of not only changing strategies but also possibly giving the series a new lease on life.
