This year, IEM Katowice is the third biggest League of Legends eSports tournament in the world and after several years European teams seem to be the biggest favorites for the win. This year’s IEM Katowice will be marked by the absence of the teams from China as well as from North America.
IEM Katowice can be described as the third most important tournament in the League of Legends eSports League.
While this tournament was packed with teams from all parts of the world, this year it will be a bit different because there will be no teams from the North America as well as from China which makes European teams favorites for the win. When it comes to the teams from China, EDward Gaming was supposed to be part of this tournament but due to the visa problems they will not be participating this year. Teams from North America, on the other hand, did not want to participate at this tournament and they decline the invitation and focused on the NA LCS.
The last time when the European team won at this event was five years ago when a Russian team won and once again the time has come for the European to shine at this tournament. In case that these teams do not win the title, this tournament will be remembered as one of the greatest upsets in League of Legends eSports League history. The biggest favorites are G2 Esports who are coming to this tournament with the perfect record of 7-0 so far. Besides European teams, there is only one team that might have chance for the title at this event and that is Flash Wolves and it will be very interesting to see will they be able to match European teams.
