During the last weekend of April, Austin, Texas will be hosting the DreamHack Open 2017 and more than one month before the official start of the tournament, eight teams have received invitations to participate in the DreamHack Open closed qualifiers. Earlier, DreamHack has revealed that six teams have already received direct invitations for the main event which means that only two teams out of the eight in closed qualifiers round will be given the opportunity to play at the main event.
The closed qualifiers for the DreamHack Open 2017 will feature teams from two regions, Europe and North America, battling for two places in the final. One place will be filled with one team from Europe while the second place will be filled with the team that wins in the closed qualifiers for the region of North America. Those two teams will be joining six teams that have received direct invitations for the tournament. Looking at the list of teams that will be playing in the closed qualifiers we cannot but to think that European qualifiers will be much more interesting.
European Qualifiers To Bring Suspense
When it comes to the region of Europe, four teams that have received invitations for the closed qualifiers are GODSENT, HellRaisers, Kinguin and mousesports. On the other hand, teams from the region of North America that received invitations for the closed qualifiers are CLG, Misfits, NRG and compLexity. As we already said, the European qualifiers will be much more interesting because neither of these teams seems to be an absolute favorite for the one remaining place at the final event. On the other hand, the North American qualifiers are not that interesting because compLexity is surely a great favorite and it will take a small miracle for any other North American team to qualify.
However, these four teams from each of these regions will not be the only ones in the closed qualifiers. Four other teams from both regions will be joining them from the open qualifiers, and they will have the opportunity to challenge the invited teams for the place at the main event. The closed qualifiers in Europe as well as in North America will be played during the last weekend of March which will leave enough time for all teams to prepare for the main event and come up with the strategy that they will be using at the final event.
Two Teams Set To Join The Invited Six
Once the closed qualifiers finish, we will have the entire list of teams that will be participating at the DreamHack Open 2017 in Austin. One team from each region will be heading to Austin where they will face the teams that received direct invitations, and those teams are Cloud9 from the United States, G2 Esports from France, Gambit from Russia, Heroic from Denmark, Immortals from Brazil, and Team Liquid from the United States.
For many years, DreamHack Open has provided fans with some of the best Counter-Strike: Global Offensive matches, and we are sure that this year will not be an exception. There is a lot to look for but the closed qualifiers that will be played this weekend will also provide fans with a lot of excitement and drama as well as with some great matches.
