A couple of days ago, DreamHack announced details about the qualifiers for the DreamHack Valencia 2017. It did not take a long time before they announced the same information about the DreamHack tournament in Atlanta after the one in Valencia. Both of these tournaments are a part of DreamHack OPEN Circuit for 2017.

DreamHack Atlanta 2017 will take place from July 21st to July 23rd in Atlanta, Georgia. It will feature the prize pool of $100,000. It has become a standard prize pool for DreamHack’s tournaments in the OPEN Circuit.

DreamHack Atlanta 2017 Format

The format of the competition will feature eight teams going against each other for their share of the prize pool and the coveted title. However, DreamHack Valencia will see five teams receiving the direct invite. Three teams will secure their spot in the Main Event through qualifiers. DreamHack Atlanta 2017 will be slightly different in this regard.

DreamHack Atlanta will feature six teams that will receive the direct invitation. This means only two will get the opportunity to secure their place in the Main Event through the qualifiers organized in the European and North American region. Qualifiers in both of these regions will feature open and closed part of the qualification. In the end, one team from each region will secure their spot in the main event.

Just like with DreamHack Valencia, the number of teams in open qualifiers is not more than 512. So the qualifiers can finish in the given time period. Considering that there is only one available space for each region, the competition will be much tougher than in previous DreamHack tournaments.

European Qualifiers

European Qualifiers will be played on July 1st. They will start with the open round until there are only four teams left. The four best teams from the open qualifiers will advance to the closed qualifiers. Theyt will take place on July 2nd. In that part of the qualifiers, those four teams will be facing four other teams that received the direct invitation for the closed qualifiers.

After the end of this part of the competition, the play will continue until there is only one team left standing. That team that will be heading to Atlanta. It will play in the Main Event of the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive DreamHack tournament.

North American Qualifiers

The North American qualifiers for this event will also start on July 1st. They will also feature the competition in open qualifiers first. Just like it is the case with European qualifiers, top four teams from open qualifiers will advance to closed qualifiers.

The following day, those four teams will be joining four directly invited teams in the qualifiers. They aim to determine the winner of those closed qualifiers and the winner of the last available spot at DreamHack Atlanta 2017.

A Lot to Look Forward To

In a very short period, fans of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive competitions will have the opportunity to enjoy two very good tournaments. For those fans who will not be able to attend the tournaments, the organizers have secured a live stream from both events.

On the other hand, for those who are interested in applying for the place in the open qualifiers, it needs to be said that all the information is available on the official ESEA website.
