Dota 2 Patch 7.20 In Development
|
A new patch for Dota 2 is currently in production, according to an employee with Valve. An employee who reportedly goes by the name of Daniel stated on Reddit that Valve is working on a patch that will be an update over the 7.19d patch that is currently in use. The patch could include some gameplay changes and possibly the release of a hero that Valve had promoted as coming to the game in the future.
The new patch is expected to be Patch 7.20. The development would not be as significant as something that would push the game to Version 8, although this should include substantial changes to the mechanics and features of the game.
The employee called Daniel states that Valve is working on the patch and that there are no specific dates for when that patch will come out. The patch is expected to make some changes in gameplay, although it is unclear as to whether Patch 7.20 would be as massive as some of the other major number patches that have come about in the past.
There is a chance that the new 7.20 patch would entail some significant changes in the game just like it has been with many other number patches. This is especially the case with patches that are released right after The International every year.
For instance, the 7.07 patch not only added new gameplay changes but also included a few new heroes. The creep immunity and ranked medal system introduced in the game at this point was critical to the development of the game.
But the most important patches are usually the whole number patches. The Version 7 patch for the game entailed the addition of Shrines and Talents in particular. These new developments have been vital in helping the game to become more detailed and elaborate in its layout, although additional features are expected to come along as the Dota 2 community continues to grow and evolve.
The information from the semi-unknown employee at Valve suggests that the next patch will be 7.20. It is uncertain as to when the Version 8 patch would be released, although that patch would most likely entail massive changes that would go beyond a basic patch.
New things are still being released in the Dota 2 universe even as the wait for the patch continues. The Darkest Dungeon announcer pack was recently released. A new music pack called TheFatRat pack has also been released. The packs come after years of ongoing promotion on Reddit for these activities, particularly for TheFatRat music that has been produced for the game.
In another related story, the two new heroes that had been introduced in recent time are still being talked about, although one has yet to be made available. Grimstroke was made available for play recently. Mars, the other new hero, has not been made available. Teasers from Valve state that Mars will be released in the winter. The next patch for the game might include Mars, although the Reddit post on the update was too vague.
