Some changes are expected to come about to four Overwatch heroes in a move that might influence future esports competitions. The new changes are currently active on Overwatch Public Test Region and are expected to go live to all versions of the game in the future, including versions regularly used in esports competition.

Mercy’s Ult Becomes Stronger

The first point to see entails the ultimate used by Mercy. The Valkyrie ult will be changed with a cost that is 15 percent less. Also, the healing per second will increase from 50 to 60.

Reaper’s Passive Increases

Another change will entail the passive power for Reaper. The Reaping allowing him to steal life from people he attacks. The life stealing power will go from 20 to 30 percent in this new update. Also, the speed randomization on his shotguns will be cut in half.

A Faster Beam From Symmetra

While Symmetra has become a popular hero for esports events thanks to her mobile turrets, she is undergoing one more change. Her primary fire beam will charge up about 20 percent faster, thus making it easier for her to get on the attack.

Big Changes For Roadhog

The most significant change coming in the Overwatch update entails some moves for Roadhog. First, his primary gun will have its spread pattern adjusted. This includes a new pattern for his primary and secondary fires. The spread randomization will also be dropped by half, thus making him easier to manage for the attack. This could still make it so opponents are more aware or certain of his attacks though.

But two other parts surrounding the Hog will have changed dramatically to make him more valuable, especially among Hog mains. His hook will have a shorter delay between when he hooks a target and when the target is pulled towards him. The delay will be cut from 0.5 seconds to 0.3 seconds. The target’s momentum will be significantly lower, thus making it harder for someone to resist or respond. The cooldown for the power will also start immediately after the chain is deployed and not after the target is pulled.

Third, his Whole Hog ultimate will include a reduced horizontal recoil, although the total value of that change is unclear. The knockback maximum velocity will also increase by 25 percent. This means the knockback will go from 8 to 10 meters per second. The change will make it so his ultimate is more valuable; there had been concerns that it is often hard for him to utilize his ultimate due to the intense recoil and shakiness involved.

A General Change

There is also one other change that will influence all the heroes in the game. The jump height will be consistent among all of the heroes in the game. This means that the heroes will all jump the same way during a match. The move is designed to create a more even approach to the game and to also create a slight sense of realism, although it is uncertain as to how this part of the change will be utilized.
