After the last year’s CS:GO Invitational that proved to be very successful, CyberPower announced the second edition of this tournament. This year’s CyberPower Invitational will take place online for the prize pool of $15,000. The winner of this tournament will win $9,000 while the runner-up will be awarded with $4,000. Teams that finish in the 3rd and 4th place will be awarded $1,000.
Last year, CyberPower confirmed that this tournament will feature mostly teams from North America. This year it is no different. This tournament will start on June 17th and end the next day with the final match of the tournament.
Just one day before the start of the competition, CyberPower has come out publicly with the list of teams that will be participating in this event. Since this is an invitational tournament, all teams received the direct invite for the tournament.
CyberPower Spring Invitational will feature eight teams. Six teams will be from North America with one team being from Brazil. And the other one will be from the European Union. Teams from North America that will be playing in this tournament are OpTic Gaming, Misfits, compLexity Gaming, CLG Academy, Ghost Gaming, and Splyce.
On the other hand, the team that will be representing Brazil and South America in this tournament will be Luminosity Gaming. Denial eSports will represent the European Union at this tournament.
When it comes to the favorites for winning the title, there are two or three teams that will be among the biggest contenders. One of those teams is OpTic Gaming, that will probably be the biggest favorite, but other contenders will have something to say.
A lot is also expected from Misfits who will be among the main contenders for winning the trophy at this event. Besides these two, compLexity Gaming has also been on the rise in tournaments like this one. Though Brazilian side could also ruin plans for the several North American teams.
On the other hand, Ghost Gaming and CLG Academy seem to be the only teams that actually do not have any chance of winning the trophy. Considering that there are six contenders for the title, this tournament has to be very interesting.
CyberPower has also released the schedule for the tournament. On Saturday evening, the opening match of the tournament will feature Misfits going against Denial Esports. It is going to be the most exciting game of the first round.
The second match of the tournament will be the match between OpTic Gaming and CLG Academy in which OpTic Gaming will be huge favorites for the win despite the big talent that CLG Academy currently has.
The third match of the Day One will be the match between Luminosity Gaming and Ghost Gamin and similarly to the game between OpTic and CLG Academy, Luminosity Gaming will be huge favorite for the win.
The match between compLexity Gaming and Splyce will close the first day of the tournament. It will be interesting to see which team will be more successful in this match. Both have had some good and some bad periods recently.
The second day of the competition will feature two semi-final matches and the grand final match that will determine the winner of this tournament for 2017.
